Abby like Abe?

The Lincoln family home was a small log cabin of the rudest kind. Nothing seemed more unlikely than their child, coming into the world in such humble surroundings, was destined to be the greatest man of his time. He was to lead the American people, through difficulties and dangers and a mighty war, to peace and freedom. – ref: website apples4theteacher.com

Abby’s home is a small townhome filled with happiness; nothing extravagant, but the surroundings provide all we need and love. Her whole life is ahead of her. The dreams and possibilities are endless. I see the artist in her already with her love for music. I see the originality in her when she tries to drink her yogurt. I see the wisdom in her as she cuddles up close to someone when she wants something from them! I see the awareness in her as she observes those around her; when she’s not active and smiling, she’s focused on others (a bit of a snoop you might say) constantly learning. I see the creativity in her as she swiftly dismantles the wall of blocks that I build; she is not satisfied with the norm and not the one to be linear and careful about pulling them together again.

Abe’s mom – “I can say, what scarcely one mother in a thousand can say, Abe never gave me a cross word or look, and never refused . . . to do anything I asked him. . . . I must say . . that Abe was the best boy I ever saw or expect to see.”

Abby’s mom – “I am so lucky. Abby is such a great kid! She is healthy, patient, flexible, happy, and smily. She loves everyone, sleeps through the night, and doesn’t have screaming fits. She’s the best kid ever!”

Abby like Abe? Parallels? I think she’s starting in the right direction.

Musical Dreams

Mozart? Beethoven? Abby?

She’s a natural pianist, according to me. A toddler with the instinct to play with two hands. A toddler who dances to her own music. A toddler who selects these toys above all else.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for picking up Abby at daycare and playing her favorite games tonight.

She’s now sleeping peacefully having beautiful musical dreams.
