Dilemma

Dilemma. Do I write tonight about the awesome party that Andy had for his 6th birthday today with family and friends and lacrosse and Legos and Beyblades and balls and cake and kids plus an abundance of wonderful food, including 50 tortilla shells and 30 taco shells for 16 people?  I could. Or, do I simply address my brainlessness in a summary that ended in fun.

I’ll try both. We’ll let the pictures illustrate the fun that we had at the party.

Abby was tired when we left and immediately fell asleep in the car. It was inevitable that I would need to wake her as she got ready for bed; this presented no issues as she was sleeping again seconds after laying down in her crib.

Backing up, when I left the party I noticed that my phone was not working; it would not turn on. Assuming it was the battery I plugged it in immediately after putting my darling girl to bed. Upon plug-in, nothing happened. I tried a different charger. Nothing happened.

Knowing that I needed to have a phone in working order and not being able to call anyone, I felt there was no dilemma to my decision of waking up Abby once again to get her in the car and go to Jeff’s house; I felt like I was trapped and had no option. He happily agreed to stay at my house with Abby while I went to the Apple Store (by this time the AT&T stores were closed). So, back to the house to wake Abby again and get her back to the crib. She was so excited to see Jeff as I carried her, but putting her down was no problem. Dreamland for her was far overdue.

Long story short, I drove 20 minutes to Ridgedale. The sweet woman at the entrance of the store did a hard reset on my phone. It worked. I drove 20 minutes back home. And, yes, I did this two button thing before (dad taught me this the last time the freeze happened) but I had convinced myself it was something major and in the panic of the time crunch the need for a phone took precedence over any rational thought in my brain.

You may have thought about this already, but I had not. As I played out the baby sitting scenario in my mind (ever so briefly as I ran from the house earlier) I did not consider that driving Jeff to my house was not a wise idea. How would he get home without us waking Abby again? Stupid. So, I called Julie Jensen on my way home. She came over, brought a bottle of wine, and we all hung out for the night. It ended up to be so fun…circumstances are sometimes crazy like that I guess.

No dilemma after all.

Mac

Nope. Not Mac the dog. Mac the computer.

The first thing that Abby goes to when she gets to the top of the stairs is the computer; such a little genius. She heads right to the keyboard, knowing that hitting the keys will light up the screen. It makes her smile. Monday she happened to make the correct clicks to start the music playing. That made me smile.

I heard today that 50% of American households have an Apple product. For many, Apple is the initiation into the world of computers or technology. This introduction is getting younger and younger as we age.

Knowledge is no longer the Encyclopedia Britannica. Video games are no longer Pong.

Lighting up the screen on our Mac. The start of an awesome future.
