The Best Day Ever

Mr. Sun came up and he smiled at me
Said it’s gonna be a good one just wait and see
Jumped out of bed and I ran outside
Feeling so extra exsatisfied

It’s the best day ever
It’s the best day ever

I’m so busy got nothing to do
Spent the last two hours just tying my shoe
Every flower, every grain of sand
Is reaching out to shake my hand

Soon Mr. Moon will be shining bright
So the best day ever can last all night
Yes, the best day ever’s gonna last all night now

It’s SpongeBob and Abby. Optimism always.

SpongeBob sang it…see above.

Abby said it…with the tenderness I love.

I’ve missed much of making known, the “best days ever” that Abby owns.

So here goes…

We purchased skates, in just her size. The “real ones” that she recognized.

Central Park, a family skate. Put on the calendar to celebrate.

The best day ever, she knew it’d be. Patiently waiting until almost three.

Bundled in her layers of clothes, from morning ’til tis time to go.

Finally her feet met the ice. Mike, Grandpa and cousins gave good advice.

Their guidance and their helping stear, generated smiles from ear to ear.

No matter the falls and climbing up, her persistence was amazingly tough.

Regardless of spills, the planned “the best day ever” of course is. SpongeBob and Abby illustrate this.

Thanks for the day enjoyable. Making her dreams unquestionable.

I found the moon. Abby found Arizona.

I watched as the moon grew smaller, as if the cheese was being eaten by the millions taking in this wonder.

I watched in anticipation of the swiss cheese turning to a round block of cheddar; waiting for its light to go out.

I then watched it disappear. The clear night sky suddenly had haze; the cheese had melted into the background and was no longer there to enjoy.

I felt it in my stomach. I couldn’t digest the idea of missing the bloodmoon tonight. It was near anxiety as I could see the cloud cover passing as the countdown approached.

Anticipation.

Almost; …no. Almost; …no. Would the stars again shine; would the miracle be visible?

Yes! Just as the clouds moved aside, there it was. That last sliver of shine and the brilliance of the orange sphere hanging from the sky was visible. The sliver then faded to black.

A glowing round ball of lava now floated above.

I watched. I had found it.

As the lunar eclipse continued, I recalled recent star-gazing with Abby.

It was the biggest sparkle in the heavens that called her name. It was the largest sky diamond that she knew was special.

Arizona! She pointed.

The explanation of Venus didn’t really fly. She’d found Arizona in our September sky.

Raptor Center

I had always wanted to go.

Our Saturday outing, the Raptor Center.

She was not so sure of those big birds…but by the end so excited by their presence and what she’d learned.

On this trip she was even able to work on a new space for a future bald eagle.

Amazing; that’s the word for this blog post.

A Girl’s Best Friend

Diamonds? So I’ve heard.

A girl’s real best friend…

Someone that is there through it all; teaching commitment.

Someone that loves her no matter what; teaching unconditional love.

Someone that snuggles even when she has been playing in the mud (likely playing in the mud with her); teaching humor.

Someone that hears her secrets and never tells anyone; teaching loyalty and trust.

Someone that needs her as much as she needs them; teaching responsibility.

Someone that teaches her without her even knowing that she is being taught.

Winn Dixie came into our lives from the Humane Society. He’s all of the above and more.

He’s one that we can both learn from.

He’s our diamond.

Twins

Take me out to the ball game

Take me out to the crowd

Buy me some “cheese-its” and cracker jacks….

etc.

Ironically it was during school that day that she learned the 7th inning song…but she didn’t quite interpret the lyrics as written.

That night, her first Twins game.

Slight delay with rain.

Loss.

Yet, still, an awesome experience none the less.
